Job Description
Our backend engineering team builds the foundational systems that power our high-traffic applications, processing billions of requests per day with sub-millisecond latency requirements. As a Principal Backend Engineer, you'll architect and implement distributed systems that are reliable, scalable, and performant at global scale.
You'll lead technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams, mentor senior engineers, and drive architectural decisions that impact our entire backend infrastructure. Our technology stack includes Go, Python, PostgreSQL, Redis, and Kafka, deployed across Kubernetes clusters with comprehensive monitoring and observability.
Requirements
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience with distributed systems at scale
- Expert-level proficiency in Go, Python, or Rust with strong system design skills
- Deep experience with databases (PostgreSQL, Redis) and message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ)
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture, API design, and service mesh technologies
- Experience with high-availability systems, load balancing, and performance optimization
- Proficiency with observability tools (Prometheus, Jaeger, ELK stack) and incident response
- Proven track record of technical leadership and mentoring senior engineers
